To better accomodate your busy work schedule, our government contracting classes are now scheduled after hours and during the lunch hour on weekdays as well as on Saturdays.  And some classes are now being offered on-line, so you don’t even have to leave your home or office to attend.

Between now and January, you can learn what it takes to do business with the City of Albany and many other units of government.

To accomodate your work schedule, many of the classes are conveniently scheduled during the lunch hour, on Saturdays, and in the evenings. Some are on-line, so you don’t have to leave your office to attend.

Mix and match the classes you’d like to take. They range from the “Fundamentals of Working with the Government” to “Using Your Computer to Win Government Contracts” to many, many more topics.  Orientations to the City of Albany’s Small Business Program also are scheduled.

You’ll learn how to register as a vendor, who to contact, where to find opportunities, what the requirements are for bidding, and how to get paid. Perry, GA the place to be Nov. 15-17 to learn about business opportunities at Robins Air Force Base

The Robins AFB and the Air Logistics Center will be holding its annual “Requirements Symposium” on Nov. 15-17, 2011 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter, Perry GA.

This is a unique 3-day event where senior leaders and managers at Robins Air Force Base share their current and future business requirements and organizational vision of the future. This insight into requirements at Robins AFB and the Air Logistics Center allows aerospace industries and businesses to appropriately plan for capabilities to support the needs at Robins AFB and the Warfighters they service.

The base and WR-ALC spend approximately $4.1 Billion dollars each year.  By attending, you can see if you can help provide what is needed.

Albany-Dougherty area businesses can attend a double-header on Wednesday, Sept. 9th!

This double-header isn’t about baseball.  But if you want to learn the most important steps to take to win a government contract and the most important section of a government bid document, our double-header is the place to be.

From 10 until 11 a.m., you can attend our class entitled “Fundamentals of Working with the Government.” This class is for newcomers to the government contracting arena — or for anyone who needs a refresher on the actions you should take and the things you need to have in place in order to effectively compete for government contracts.

Then, from 11 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., you can attend another terrific class – “Preparing Successful Bids and Proposals.” This class is perfect for anyone who is looking for tips and instruction on how to prepare a bid or proposal to a government agency.  Special instructions will be given on bidding on City of Albany and Dougherty County contracts.   Details about state and federal contracts will be covered, too.

July 20th speed partnering event was a big hit — see photos here!

Georgia Tech held a very successful orientation session to the City of Albany and Dougherty County small business programs on July 20th.

The highlight of the event was the instruction provided on how to write and deliver an elevator speech.  An elevator speech is a 30-second pitch in which a business person states his or her expertise and capabilities.

On the “listening end” of the elevator speeches given by the 40 business people in attendance were representatives of City of Albany and Dougherty County governments.

The event was kicked-off by remarks from Dougherty County Commissioner Gloria Gaines, County Administrator Richard Crowdis, City of Albany Purchasing Director Stephen Collier, and several other City and County officials.

Subcontracting and Selling to the Military are classes offered Thursday, Aug. 25

Are you interested in subcontracting with large prime contractors?

Are you looking for tips on how to sell to the military?

If you answer “yes” to either of these questions, then you ought to plan to attend our classes planned for Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the Albany Microbusiness Enterprise Center.

Starting at 10:00 am, we’ll be talking about “Subcontracting with Large Prime Contractors.”  You’ll learn that many prime contractors continuously seek good small business suppliers to meet their needs and satisfy the requirements of their government subcontracting plans.
